Worksheet: Complex sentences - Compound or complex?

complex-sentences-compound-or-complex

Identify compound and complex sentences

Compound sentences join two independent clauses with a coordinating conjunction (and, or, but, yet, so, for, nor). Complex sentences contain a main clause and a dependent clause beginning with a conjunction like (before, after, because ....). Understanding these structures will help students avoid common grammatical errors (run on sentences, comma splices and so on).
