Utah’s capital city is among the locations mentioned in “The Executioner’s Song,” Norman Mailer’s Pulitzer Prize-winning true-crime novel about the execution of the murderer Gary Gilmore. Which city is Utah's capital?

  • A Salt Lake City
  • B Orem
  • C Park City
  • D Ogden
That's Correct!
It's Wrong!

From Joan Didion’s 1979 review in the Book Review:

Brenda Nicol, a forthright woman in her thirties who “hadn't gone into marriage four times without knowing she was pretty attractive on the hoof,” has gotten a call from the penitentiary at Marion saying that her cousin Gary Gilmore was coming home — by way of St. Louis, Denver, Salt Lake — to Provo.

PS. Didion gave the book a rave:

When I read this, I remembered that the tracks made by the wagon wheels are still visible from the air over Utah, like the footprints made on the moon. This is an absolutely astonishing book.
