Using a balance scale

Students use a balance scale to compare the weights of two objects and determine which is heavier.  Understanding balance scales is a stepping stone to understanding the measurement of weights in standardized units.

Note that the questions at page bottom are challenging, requiring inferences (A is heavier than B, B is heavier than C, so A is heavier than C).
