A problem: which operation to use?
The computations in these word problems are relatively simple and can be done mentally. However, the challenge is to read the question carefully and apply the correct operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) while ignoring superfluous data. Some questions may require more than one step. Students are also asked to write an equation for some problems.
